The Story of Kati Patang, Explained
Madhu was engaged to someone, but ran away with her boyfriend only to discover he was after her money and fooling around with another woman. Returning home, she found that her uncle, her only family, had committed suicide. Fleeing, she encountered her widowed childhood friend on her way to meet her in-laws for the first time.
They took the train together to Naini Tal, but it derailed, killing Madhu’s friend. Before dying, the friend made Madhu promise to take her place at her in-laws. Thus, Madhu assumed a new identity.
However, her old ex-boyfriend knows the truth, and she is connected to the people of Naini Tal in more ways than she realizes.
